The jury of 69-year-old music producer Phil Spector has found him guilty of second degree murder of actress Lana Clarkson. This was Spector’s second trial, the first ended deadlocked with ten jury members favoring a guilty verdict and two favoring a not guilty verdict.

The prosecution argued that Spector had a history of threatening women with guns and that he put the barrel of a gun in 40-year-old Clarkson’s mouth and pulled the trigger. He had only met the former actress three hours earlier. Upon hearing the guilty verdict, Spector could be seen to physically shake, while his young wife loudly sobbed.

The Clarkson family attorney, John Taylor, remarked:

The family is pleased that the jury rejected distortions of Lana Clarkson’s life.

Spector was jailed immediately following the guilty verdict, sentencing will be decided at a later date.

“Clarkson was jailed immediately following the guilty verdict, sentencing will be decided at a later date.”

Why did they jail Clarkson? I thought it was Phil Spector who received prison time.
