Real Madrid: Pepe’s Savage Football Foul

Real Madrid’s Pepe committed a savage foul on Getafe’s Francisco Casquero in a match that would ultimately end 2-2. Pepe intentionally pushes Casquero, but it is what happened after Casquero hit the turf that earned him a well deserved red card. After raking the downed Getafe captain with his sprigs, Pepe tried to console him before striking another member of the Getafe team in the face.

The second video shows the incident much more clearly, to a rather unfortunate death metal sound track.

While this last video is a joke, it is very funny and just in case you didn’t see it during the last World Cup it is definitely worth watching. Even if you did it is probably worth watching again. So, in the spirit of the occasion and for Fark’s sake:

this is one of the main reasons i hate soccer….which really isnt fair 2 say because i DONT hate soccer..i appreciate it as a sport, and used to play it as a youth. i suppose this is why im losing respect for soccer as a major atheletic event, and soccer players are moreso actors now than atheletes. let it be about the game, not the theatrics. its really really incredibly rediculous to see these supposed tough, mentally and physically, atheletes just flop, dive, and completely ACT to get a call. i understand other sports include the occasional “flop” in basketball when trying to draw a charge etc. But this is showin people floppin when theres not even an opposing player within 3 feet of them .blah, soccer, futbol, whatever its called…its losing steam, and its losing respect. NBA playoffs are here people…watch a real sport with games averaging more than 2 or 3 scores per game.

Fair comments, with regards to diving, it should be a cardable offense. All it takes to eliminate diving is a video referee.

Football (soccer) is a low scoring game and that can make it frustrating to watch until you get used to it. Goals become a lot more precious. Personally, I don’t enjoy watching basketball a whole lot; too much back and forth. I like American football but I absolutely hate the amount of advertisements that they put in a game.

For watching, I like hockey, football (soccer), tennis, baseball and to a certain extent, cricket.

Diving drags soccer down but meat heads who express their anger in the above fashion only make it worse.

I dont care how good he is.. this guy needs to be BANNED from soccer. It was clearly premeditated battery. If his foot connected with the guys ass it would have caused some serious injury. Dude needs to be sent back to the slums he came from. he doesn’t deserve a penny.

As a former college-level player and long-time fan, I think I have a simple remedy for Pepe’s actions.
For the push, a yellow card and a penalty kick (foul in the box).
For the two attempted kicks afterwards, a three game suspension, for each kick (six games total).
For the punch to the face to the opposing player, a 6 game suspension, to be served after the other suspension is finished (he’s up to 12 games now).
No pay while he’s on suspension. And he has to pay back the appropriate percentage of whatever signing bonus he got.
And, the team may not replace him on their roster. They can still put 11 men on the field, but their bench will be a man short for the duration of his suspension.
This punishes Pepe, obviously, but it also punishes the team, and hopefully, if this is seen by other General Managers throughout the League, they won’t be so likely to hire goons and cheap-shot artists like Pepe if it hurts the team.
By the way, I have similar thoughts regarding fights in hockey, too!

Where is the dive here. The guy pushes him over in the box, he goes down, it’s a penalty. Pepe then pulled out some discusting kicks and got sent off. There is no problem with football here.

Yes they can be inclined to go down theatrically but if you could run 100m in 10.0 seconds and I just tapped your foot with mine or gave you a little push off balance you’d go over as well.

and as for the low scoring, that’s part of football’s beauty. games like basket ball where they score every couple of minutes means games are lost by teams failing to score rather than teams winning by scoring. The joy and pashion when your football team scores is like being right at the front of a Metalica gig during Master of Puppets.

Pepe obviously deserved the red card, but so does the little fairy that got pushed down for his lousy acting. Soccer = gay.
