Cannabis Grower Slow-cooked By Hydro Setup

A 28-year-old marijuana grower died of hyperthermia, from the excessive heat generated by his hydroponic setup.

Hyperthermia is the opposite of hypothermia, you get it when your body gets too hot. In the case of Halifax, West Yorkshire (alleged) dope farmer Luke Holmes, too hot was a steamy 38C or 100F. The heat was generated by the battery of lights contained in three large, foil-lined tents.

When his friends did not hear from Holmes for three days, they broke into his house, where they found him dead. The police who were called to the scene said that they nearly fainted from the heat.

A coronial inquest declared that the young man had apparently died his sleep as a result of the constant heat. [Metro]
