110-year old light bulb still burns

It’s older than Hugh Heffner… and it too is still going.

A 110-year old light bulb in a fire station in Livermore, California, is still burning and it holds the Guniess Book of World Records for it.

No one can figure out how the 5-watt bulb is still burning since 1901 but it is.

Apparently, the bulb was donated to the fire station by the Livermore Power and Light Company owner Denis Bernal who thought the convenience of electric light would serve the fire fighters well. At the time there were only a couple of light bulbs available.

And now the wonder of the never ending light bulb continues. Scientist keep coming to see if they can figure out its mystery but they can’t. On average a light bulb lasts between 750-1,000 hours but this one has been burning for nearly a million. [World Record Academy]
