Man Registers Car Before Police Can Finish Writing Ticket

jersey-policeWhen a New Brunswick police officer pulled over a Sean Leach of Jersey city for an expired registration sticker, Leach was quick to inform him that while he planned to register his vehicle, he just hadn’t got round to doing so. That did not stop Officer Jason Zier from issuing a ticket, he informed Leach that it was possible to do so online; which gave him an idea.

As Officer Zier started writing up the ticket, Leach retrieved the the renewal notice that contained a registration notice from his vehicle’s sun visor and called a friend with his cell phone. His friend accessed the registration page with Leach’s details and paid the registration with his credit card number. By the time Zier finished writing the ticket, the vehicle was registered and did not need to be towed.

While the quick action did not save Leach from the fine, it did save him from expensive towing fees as Zier was able to cancel the tow truck and let Leach drive away, a little poorer for the fine, but much better off than he could have been. [Chastity's Corner]
