Do NFL players use Viagra to boost their performance?

Earlier this month, it was brought to our attention that the NFL had a growing number of suspensions due to amphetamine use as well as other drugs including some ADHD drugs like Adderall. That’s when a Chicago Bears player Brandon Marshall announced with a tongue in cheek tone that he had heard of players using Viagra supposedly to thin their blood and help with circulation and cardio.

It’s very doubtful that Viagra would do anything to enhance a football player’s performance, Montreal based World Anti-Doping agency’s director Dr. Olivier Ravin said. It’s also unknown whether or not Viagra could be used to mask the use of illegal drugs.

However he notes that Viagra is not a banned substance in American Football. Still this whole story has brought some of the players out to say, “No. We do not use Viagra for football…” One was even quoted as saying that his wife would be upset.

Like she’d be happy if he took steroids…
