Quite Possibly the World’s Toughest Golf Hole

Chances are that even if you’re only slightly aware of the sport of golf, you would know a tough hole when you see one.  And the Extreme 19th hole at the Legend Golf and Safari Resort in South Africa may just be the world’s toughest.

The hole itself plays as a par 3, albeit the longest par 3 in the world at 587 m.  The tee off area is atop Hanglip Mountain, some 430 m in height.  Balls hit to the green below take approximately 30 seconds to reach the green.

But that’s not all.  Just getting to the tee off area is an experience in itself.  Forget about driving your golf cart up there–the only way to access the tee is via helicopter.

Now if you think it’s ridiculous to even play this impossible hole, consider this–if by chance you make that one-in-a-million shot of your life and make a hole-in-one, you walk away U.S. $1,000,000 richer.

A unique golfing experience to say the least. [News:Lite]

    Beaverboard on Sportsfilter.com:

If you misplay your drive into the ‘second cut’ and need to take a drop, do you have to use a parasail or an ATV to get to the spot?

Personally, I would take a bucket of cut balls and a bottle of Jack Daniels up there just to get a feel for the ‘down and distance’ as they say in the NFL, then chopper on back to the clubhouse for a second unit of Jack.

Rusks and thick coffee to follow at daylight.

I like how that man thinks

I disagree, but if you think that you can do a better job and are prepared to hold yourself up to obnoxious comments like the one you just put forward, please be our guest.

Wooow… I just must see when someone gets a hole in one. How the helper guy in the bottom will be jumping up and down flailing his arms. This hole is insane… and I like this article so that’s my opinion on the debate.

Awesome! But I think there’s no chance of hitting an ace here. Either the ball drops straight into the hole, it will pop out again for about 25m high or if you are lucky enough to hit the green you’ll need a spade to repair your pitchmark so i dont think the ball will actually roll after landing.

But it’s definitely a hole I have to play anytime in the future, cU there.
