It’s hard these days to find activities for the whole family to enjoy–unless of course you live in Mangum, Oklahoma.
And love rattlesnakes.
The 44th Annual Mangum Rattlesnake Derby, which ended this past Sunday, was a rousing success, drawing approximately 35,000 visitors to the sleepy little Oklahoma town.
Participants in the derby got to catch and kill Western diamondback rattlesnakes, all the while learning about the venomous reptile.
Kerry Kendall, co-director of the derby, believes that the event is “something you can bring your 4-year-old to.”
Billed as a clean and wholesome event, the derby’s Butcher Shop featured rattlers being beheaded, gutted and skinned in front of curious onlookers.
