Fugitive Gets a Bad Case of the Munchies

tacobellhillrdYou ever get the craving for your favorite food, and no matter where you are or what you’re doing, you drop everything and head out to get yourself a treat.

Would you do that if you were smack dab in the middle of a high speed police chase?

Jermaine Askia Cooper of Fort Wayne, Indiana did–or at least he tried to.

Cooper, with Fort Wayne police in hot pursuit, led the chase across two counties before abruptly stopping at a Taco Bell in Decatur.

The chase was initiated after police in Fort Wayne recognized Cooper who was wanted on multiple felony charges.  Before making his run to the border, Cooper threw a .45-caliber Colt semiautomatic handgun out the window.

Strangely enough, Cooper’s reasoning for the Taco Bell stop contained some actual logic.  He realized that once caught, he would be going to jail for a lengthy stay–so he wanted to grab one last burrito.

Unfortunately for Cooper, he never did get his burrito. [Journal Gazette,Image]
