Mexico’s navy has intercepted more than a ton of cocaine, packed within 20 frozen shark carcasses on a container ship bound for the United States.

In a statement to the media, Navy Commander Eduardo Villa told the media that more than a ton of cocaine was found on a ship with the aid of sniffer dogs and X-ray machines. The cargo was discovered while the ship was in port in the southern Mexican state of Yucatan.

According to Commander Villa:

Those in charge of the shipment said it was a conserving agent but after checks we confirmed it was cocaine.
