Bulgarian Drivers Playing “Russian Road Roulette”

sofia
Drivers in Sofia, Bulgaria are playing a deadly game that has been dubbed “Russian road roulette”, in which they race through red lights at busy intersections.

Both participants and onlookers place bets of up to 5000 Euros. In order to win, a driver must charge through a red light without touching their brakes and without hitting any other cars or pedestrians.

Police are on the lookout for illegal racers, which are announced via text messages, but with the short duration of the races, the chances of catching them in the act would seem to be limited.
