A family dinner gone wrong landed Chavonna Gough of Sacramento, California in custody when the younger of her two teenage sons (aged 16 and 19) made the mistake of eating the last pork chop.
According to police, after her son ate the last pork chop, Gough became upset and an altercation ensued. Police allege that Gough broke eggs over the boy’s head and threw a plate at him. When the arguing escalated and she went to the kitchen for a knife. It has been suggested that the son tried to hold his mother’s hands, but that she bit him then punched him. She the pair out of the house.
Chavonna Gough has been charged with felony child abuse and her 16-year-old son was taken into protective custody.
Police spokesman Konrad Von Schoech gave his views on the situation:
The shocking thing is that the arguing was over food — that the 16-year-old had eaten the last pork chop.
There must be some underlying factors that has this family in turmoil,” Von Schoech said. “We just hope they get the help they need.
