Kite Surfers Jump Huge British Pier

Two kite surfers made the most of the strong winds on the south coast of England and pulled off an incredibly pier jump that had been three years in the planning.

Twenty-five-year-old Jack Scrace and 24-year-old Lewis Crathern took to the seas in 40mph winds and jumped Worthing pier.

Scrace, a carpenter who makes kite boards and Crathern, a professional kite surfer, stressed that the jump was extremely hazardous and should not be attempted by amateurs. The two men have a combined 16 years of experience in the sport.

According to Scrace:

It was probably the most terrifying thing I’ve ever built up to. We were practising down the road and we were pretty confident we were going to do it but as soon as we got nearer the pier it was quite hard.

Crathern described the jump as “epic” adding, “It was everything I’ve lived for – amazing.”
