I can’t imagine the hell this poor husband had to go through, only in the end to finally be exonerated in the death of his wife.
It’s even worse than he originally thought–the murderer was, in fact, an elk.
Poor Ingemar Westlund. Way back in September 2008, he found the body of his wife, Agneta, after she failed to return from walking the dog.
Ingemar was arrested and held by police for 10 agonizing days. The case was eventually dropped some five months ago, but only now are police revealing what they think actually happened to Agneta.
The theory, after finding elk hair and saliva on the dead woman’s clothes, is that Agneta was most likely killed by a European elk, or moose. For the most part, elk are shy and fearful of humans. However, they can become quite aggressive after eating fallen fermented apples in gardens.
So it seems that elk, when they’ve had a few too many fermented apples, are a lot like humans who’ve had a few too many beers–loaded and looking for trouble.
