An elementary school teacher in Portland, Tennessee stands accused of vandalizing Portland East Middle School.
According to Tennessean.com and the affidavit against her, 50-year-old Brenda Sue Rawls is alleged to have used “sardine juice, condoms and lubricant to vandalize a mini-fridge, a teacher’s desk and three lockers” in the attack, which is said to have caused $250 in damage.
It is also alleged that she enlisted the help of a seventh grader to assist in the vandalism. Sumner County Sheriff Bob Barker suggested that the August 16 attack was in retaliation for comments that a teacher at the school had made about Rawls.
Rawls is said to have confessed to have purchasing the sardines, condoms, lubricants and air freshener used in the and to have used her key to allow the student into the building. However, she has denied any active part in the vandalism.
Authorities also noted that after a discussion about the incident Rawls and the student returned to the school and used air fresheners in an attempt to clean up the vandalized lockers.
Rawls is charged with vandalism under $500, contributing to the delinquency of a minor and criminal trespassing.
