Sicilian Man Chooses Jail over New Year’s Eve with Relatives

newyearsevepartyd3-main_fullA Sicilian man, who was looking for a way out of spending New Year’s Eve with his wife and relatives, probably could have come up with something better than getting thrown in jail.

The 35-year-old soon-to-be divorcee first tried just asking the local police if he could be arrested and spend the night in jail.  The cops turned him down, on the basis that he had not committed a crime.

But that didn’t deter the man.  The Sicilian gentleman immediately went next door to the local tobacco shop, threatened the shop owner with a box cutter, then swiped a handful of sweets and a packet of gum.  The man then politely waited until police showed up to take him into custody.

If the wife and relatives are as impressed as I think they are, it’s safe to say that our Sicilian friend will be spending next New Year’s Eve, as well as every other upcoming holiday, all by his lonesome.
