Woman Gets Home Detention For ‘Surprise’ Head Hammering

A Utah woman received 30 days of home detention after she blindfolded her husband and told him that she was going to give him a surprise… then hit him on the head with a hammer.

Amy Teresa Ricks, 37, pleaded guilty to second-degree felony aggravated assault in February. The incident occurred in 2007. In return for her guilty plea, prosecutors agreed to reduce her conviction to a third-degree felony; which will be expunged from her record after seven years.

The Kansas City Star reports that Ricks and her husband are married but have separated. The attack is said to have left him with minor injuries. There was no mention of what her husband did to motivate such a savage surprise.
