Man sliced off own junk at airport… to avoid extradition

A Kazakh man is in a serious condition in a Madrid hospital after slicing off his own penis at a Madrid’s Barajas airport to avoid extradition.

The 52-year-old man, who has not been named, had completed a five-year sentence for committing a violent crime and was due to be extradited back to his native Kazakhstan overnight on Monday.

Apparently he did not want to go. As he was led through the airport by police officers, he produced a knife that he had secreted in his clothing and chopped off his own penis.

It would be easy to dismiss his actions as crazy, but his surgical effort did save him from getting kicked out of Spain – you just have to wonder whether he could have done something a little less drastic in order to achieve the same effect. Had he chopped off his pinky, or one or both ears, he would still have been conveyed to hospital, possibly seen as needing ongoing psychiatric care, and his junk would be intact.
