Billionaire appears to signal welshing intentions on million-dollar Obama streak challenge

Billionaire Alki David promised $1 million to anyone who managed to streak in front of President Obama. Juan Rodriguez did so in fine style – risking life and limb for the million bucks, expecting to be paid. Now it seems he won’t see a dime as David has said that he will only cough up the cash if President Obama personally confirms that he saw the streaker.

The 24-year-old Rodriguez made it to within 10 feet meters of the President, ripped off his tearaway clothes and screamed, “Battlecam.com”. Rodriguez said that he put around $1300 of his own money into pulling off the stunt.

David explained his position:

We’re waiting to hear from the president to see if he, in fact, saw Juan Rodriguez during the streaking challenge. As soon as we get confirmation, we will make the payment.

The White House has made it clear that they would not be commenting on the incident, but David asserts that he has “diplomatic friends” who will confirm whether or not President Obama had witnessed Rodriguez in action.

It’s a lot of money. “We’re not going to give the money away lightly.

Rodriguez, maintains that he fulfilled the terms of the wager and is expecting to be paid:

I’m trying to get in touch with Mr. David. I’ve done everything I was supposed to do.

The rules were very clear. If you wore a Band-Aid, you were screwed. So I made sure I had nothing on me. I was 10 feet from the president, so I know I was in earshot of him. I’m pretty sure he saw and heard me.

Now, I don’t want to appear to be too judgmental here, but if you have the money to offer for that sort of challenge and someone takes you up on it – then you don’t look for ways out of paying. [NY Post]
