How not to demolish a smoke stack [video]

If you want to see a perfect example of how not to bring down a 275-foot concrete smokestack, look no further than this video of a botched demolition job at the Ohio Edison Mad River Power Plant in Springfield, Ohio. From what we can see, the explosives failed to have the desired effect… and calamity ensued.

To cut a long story short, the smoke stack fell on the power station and the lines came crashing down towards the spectators. The aftermath: 8,000 or so homes lost power and a job or two was probably lost but everyone went home injury free.
