Muriel Morris, the 70-year-old former owner of Meal Machine Café, was given a four month suspended sentence and ordered to wear an electronic tag after admitting to police that she failed to comply with health food regulations, which led to the poisoning of 47 police officers after they had eaten tainted chicken and tuna sandwiches purchased from Morris’ café.
The cops were exposed to the staphylococcus aureus bacteria, causing their illnesses. Some officers were so sick that they felt they were going to die, while others passed out before being transported to hospital.
The police officers were on hand to patrol a demonstration between two groups of protesters when they decided to purchase 100 sandwiches from Morris’ deli, which led to the accidental poisonings. Ms. Morris was so distraught over the incident that she retired and sold the Meal Machine Café.
I don’t know how the cops weren’t able to tell the sandwiches were spoiled and possibly contaminated, but then again, I’ve heard it’s hard to tell when any British food has gone bad. Hopefully next time they’ll follow the police stereotype and stick to donuts.
