Multi-tasker gets accidental knife through face

Perhaps the title is a little mean, but the fact is that there are some things that deserve a little care and attention – peeling an apple with a sharp knife is one of them. On its own, peeling an apple is safe enough but you have a sharp knife and a task that requires a little concentration.

The thirteen-year-old whose x-ray you see before you was, according to his father, “walking to the sofa while peeling the apple” He tripped and the blade of the eight-inch knife penetrated his left cheek just below his eye to a depth of approximately three inches. Fortunately, it came to a rest just before puncturing his carotid artery and he is expected to make a full recovery.

A scary but important reminder of the fragility in life and the validity of all those rules about running with scissors and walking while brushing your teeth. [AOL News]
