Crazy Spanish paving confuses, sickens boozed up Brits

The Spanish resort town of Alicante has thrown a curve ball at boozy tourists in the form of some crazy paving that apparently plays tricks on both eyes and stomachs.

From Metro:

Set in rows of diamonds at 90 degrees to each other, the opposing slabs create an optical illusion tricking the walker into thinking the walkway is a series of never ending steps.

While the oddly confusing optical effect might be interesting to non-drinkers – those stumbling home from a night on the town have reported experiencing nausea. Personally, I think the problem is more likely the complaining tourists than the mind-bending paving: look at the horizon and soldier on, you’ll be across in no time. [Metro]
