A graduate student at the London School of Economics has produced a study that states that the internet meme “LoLcats” make people (counter-intuitively) smarter.
The internet anthropologist found that the online banality draws people closer together through its silliness.
She believes that Lolcats were invaluable tool for creating connections between people; the absurd misuse of English grammar and spelling could still house a deeper meaning or express someone’s thoughts.
Her thesis purported that humanity was to be found in the lolcat.
