In this day and age of political correctness, the somewhat cheeky logo of The Dogs Bollocks Emporium was approved by the local council recently, with no objections from the locals.
Given that the sign will be in the towns main street, the unanimous vote in favor that came complete with an additional 55 signatures of support on a petition, you’d imagine the place will do well. Shire chief executive Ray Hooper also expected some opposition.
He said:
It’s a small country town in a rural setting, most people don’t go for a name that is out of the ordinary. The way local government operates, we advertise so many different planning approvals…but we don’t get a great deal of support or objection. It’s just the nature of planning approvals for probably anywhere in the State. Once the decision is made it’s very hard to go backwards with them.

I’m English and obviously The Dogs Bollocks… it’s the same as the ducks nuts and the bees knees, it literally means excellent. We’ve got a lot of good support in the town and they can see it for what it is, it’s a name, that’s all it is. Obviously there are a few people that might be offended but doesn’t matter what you call something you’re always going to offend somebody.
I’ve lived in australia all my life and I’ve never heard the phrase. Clearly, I mix with the wrong crowd
