Skinny Jeans Hot Contraband in North Korea

You might not be able to buy animal fertilizer or get instant noodles but style can’t be held back by any government sanction. Skinny jeans are all the rage with woman in the North Korean capital of Pyongang and are one of the hottest commodities being smuggled into the country.

Up until recently women were forbidden to wear trousers under the strict communist regime. If caught they’d be forced to pay a fine equal to a week’s wages or do hours of hard labor as punishment. But the ban’s been lifted and women’s desire to have the hottest trend out there is unleashed.

As North Korea is still under strict sanctions they’re currently the trend-setting skinny jeans are pretty tough to get into the country. But rampant demand has pushed them to the top of the contraband list alongside instant noodles and porn. No matter how hard you try style always dictates what’s in…  or in this case what’s getting in.
