Ioannis Maniatis is a defender for the Greek national football team (soccer for North Americans) and he is scheduled to get married on July 1st. However, in the event that Greece beat the Germans in the quarter final Thursday, and then go on to win the semi-final and make it to the final on July 1st, he runs the risk of missing his own wedding.
Maniatis, 25, normally plays at a club level with Olympiacos in Greece.
He scheduled the wedding a year and half ago, when his team hadn’t qualified for the Euro championships yet. Furthermore, he didn’t know he would be selected as a team member at the time. We’re not sure his fiancee will understand but we’re sure she’s behind him (no Greek pun intended) on this endeavor.
