Guinea Anti-crime Chief Urges Citizens To Burn Armed Robbers

le-capitaine-tiegboroThe anti-crime chief for Guinea’s military government has urged citizens to burn any armed robbers that they catch rather than increase the strain on the country’s prisons.

Captain Moussa Tiegboro Camara issued the following statement on Tuesday:

I’m asking you to burn all armed bandits who are caught red-handed committing an armed robbery.

He further added:

He continued by encouraging citizens to join self-defense groups. Thierno Maadjou Sow, president of the Guinean Organization of Human Rights, was not amused at the suggestion and described the measures as worrying. [Reuters]
