“(The apartment was) littered with faeces, feathers and leftover food.” – Margit Platzer, vet.

Berlin, Germany: A 60-year-old Berlin pensioner has been forced from his home after officials, who were called by neighbors complaining about the noise and smell, found some 1,700 budgies living in his two room apartment. The birds lived on perches constructed by the man, and were free to fly about the apartment as they wished. The birds have been taken into custody and the man has been forced from his apartment, which has been declared no longer fit for human habitation. [Sky News]
