In a scene eerily reminiscent of the movie “Snakes on a Plane”, four baby Stimson pythons escaped from their holding container on a Qantas passenger plane, forcing the cancellation of two flights.
The flight originated from Alice Springs and was on it’s way to Melbourne, with 12 Stimson pythons supposedly secure in the cargo hold of the plane. However, upon landing in Melbourne, the crew noticed that four of the snakes were missing.
An expert was called in to search for the elusive reptiles, but was unable to locate the 6 inch long snakes. Due to the search, the plane missed two flights it was supposed to make, and passengers were transferred to other flights.
It was not known whether the snakes had made their way off the plane or not, but to make sure that they didn’t show up mid-flight, the plane was fumigated as a precaution, once it was determined that the species of snake was not threatened or endangered. [ Yahoo News]
