Woman Gets Shot in the Head, Makes Herself Some Tea

954029chamomile-tea-in-cup-with-spoon-postersIn a truly bizarre story out of Birmingham, Alabama, a Mississippi woman is lucky to be alive after being shot point blank in the head by her husband, who then turned the gun on himself and committed suicide.

The tale is tragic to say the least, yet at the same time is so amazing that it almost cannot be believed.  Tammy Sexton is still in hospital, and is expected to make a full recovery despite being shot in the head.

It all started Tuesday night just after midnight, when Tammy’s estranged husband Donald Ray showed up at their house to confront her.  Earlier, police had been searching for Mr. Sexton to serve him with a court order to stay away from his wife, this following a conviction of domestic violence.

While a family member ran next door to call police, Donald Ray shot Tammy directly in the forehead.  Amazingly the bullet passed through her brain, and exited the back of her skull.  Donald Ray then went out to the porch and killed himself with the same gun.

When authorities arrived, they were greeted by Tammy holding a rag to her head, as she was just finishing up making herself some tea.  She even went so far as to offer the stunned police officer a drink.

Apparently the bullet didn’t damage the part of the brain responsible for hospitality.[MSNBC]

the story is out of birmingham but it actually happened a couple miles down the road from us. of course she offered officers some tea, there is nothing like southern hospitality.

local newspaper account…..”Sheriff’s Sgt. Leon Rushing said Tammy Sexton told detectives she had ‘just made some tea and was fine.’

Rushing said she appeared slightly disoriented but was alert and responsive to questions.

“She had a cup of tea on her nightstand,” Rushing said. “That was evidence that she had gone to the microwave and made tea. I’m sure she made it after she was shot.”

Police recovered a .380-caliber semiautomatic handgun, which they believe was the pistol that 57-year-old Donald Sexton used in the shootings, Byrd said.
