Octagenerian Takes Down Two Attackers

090423_ted_mazetierWhen 84-year-old Tacoma, Washington resident Ted Mazetier saw a car by the side of the road and two people standing by it, he did what most community-minded people would do, he checked to make sure that they were alright. In return for his compassion, the two men set upon him, with one of them landing a “sucker punch” through his window. What happened next is a perfect example of natural justice.

After being punched through the window, the World War II veteran and former prison guard sprung into action. As he opened the door to his car, one of the man went for him, but was repelled by a strong kick to the testicles. The second man charged, only to receive a kick to the stomach that sent him to the ground. The attackers fled and Mazetier waved down a passerby who took him to the hospital. The same passerby also managed to give police a good description of the two men as they left the scene.

In hospital, a short time later, police informed him that they had apprehended the two men that they suspected of the attack.

In his own words:

And so the next thing I know, I was in the hospital and when the cops came in the hospital – the same ones that interviewed me – they said, ‘We got ‘em.’ And I said, ‘Thank God.
