Cincinnati Police Tase And Shoot Chihuaha

A chihuahua-cross by the name of Jack bore the full wrath of the Cincinnati police department, when he was tased and then shot three times after biting an officer on the hand.

Scott and Sharon Bullock returned home from a funeral to find the dog’s blood and three bullets on their front porch. Police claim that they had “no option” but to shoot the dog, which had been a present to their 12-year-old son, after it attacked people in the neighborhood and then bit an officer multiple times.

Lieutenant Paul Hartinger of the Blue Ash police department told WCPO:

As badly as the officer was getting bitten, he had to do something to protect himself. They first chose physical means, then a Taser, and when those two didn’t work, he had no option but to shoot the dog.

According to Scott Bullock, the couple’s five-year-old son has been left distraught by the incident:

He ‘barks’ for him. He’d ‘bark’ and Jack would always come to him, so he’s outside going ‘Bark bark bark,’ hoping he’s gonna come back. It’s heartbreaking.

The police officer in question was allegedly bitten 17 times on one hand and 9 times on the other. [News.com.au]

I’ve owned many big dogs in the last 40 years.

Four years ago I “inherited” my daughter’s Chihuaha, as she moved to a no-pets-allowed apartment. It’s the first small dog I’ve ever owned, and the first snarly one as well. It barks at people and has attempted to bite a few ankles as well. But come on. I’m a six foot tall man.

Whenever it gets unruly, and it has, I just reach down with both hands, pick it up, and put it in a security hold. There is no way it can then bite me or anyone else.

To get bitten a claimed 26 times, what in the world was this cop doing? Was he offering up his hands to the dog? Why didn’t he just pick the dog up?

Tasering it, and shooting it – and I would assume killing it – certainly is excessive and unecessary in my opinion.

I’m old enough to remember when the police mission was “to protect and serve” – not “taser, shoot, and kill”.

I am only 5 foot 2 and I can handle a biting small dog better then that, and have. Small dogs seem to be more snappy and defensive but 26 bites and they have failed to control the dog? They then Taze it and still have to put three rounds into it? What do they do if they meet a real challange?

Man, what kind of pansy-ass wimps are signing up to be cops these days? Last week they’re tasing a 72 year old woman because she “posed a threat”, this week tasing–and SHOOTING(?!?!?)–a chihuaha? He got bit 17 times on one hand and 9 on the other? Was he conscious for this, or just stupid? This idiot must have never had–or been around–a pet in his life. I got nipped by a chihuaha once, you reach behind with your other hand and grab them by the scruff. Problem solved.

Hope there aren’t any hardcore criminals in Cincinnati, or the citizens there are screwed. If they can’t handle a 5 year old boy’s toy dog, they sure aren’t up to the challenge of violent criminals.

this poliman was stupid seriously. i own a chihuahua yes they are a bit snappy and bark alot and everything. but what the hell was that stupid idiot doing to the poor dog to react that way. becasue my dog only bites someone that has treated him badly or teases him or something but then he’ll stop afeter he knows that the person is not going to anything. i guess the cop was going to do something cus seriously we dont even know what the he was doing there in the first place if there was no owner at the house or anyone. i juswt way that the cop should be dispatched or something he doesnt deserve to be a cop if he is going to be tasing and shooting little chihuahua’s how cruel for a man to do that. he has no heart. really kill a little cute no. i will never forgive anyone for doing that.

If the dog was Great Dane sized I would be a LITTLE (not much) more understanding of wanting to use such violent means to get away. But a 5-10lb Chihuahua? Seriously? All you have to do is walk away from it? I’m just in shock right now.
