Woman Puts Mother’s $1 Million Life Savings In The Trash

An Israeli woman is scouring three landfills in Tel Aviv after accidentally throwing away her mother’s life savings, worth approximately $1 million.

Anat thought that she was doing her mother a favor when she bought her a new mattress and threw out the old one, but when her mother heard about the gift she almost fainted; her mother had a lifetime of savings stuffed inside.

She is now in the unenviable position of having to sort through trash in three landfills around Tel Aviv that receive some 2,500 tons of refuse per day.

Anat told Army Radio:

My mother told me that I should just leave it. It is a very, very sad story – but I’ve been through worse. It’s a matter of proportion in life. People need to know how to accept the good and the bad.

Landfill workers are helping with the ongoing search.
