Experience a Luxurious Dose of Prison in Western Germany

Picture 10
The Alcatraz hotel, located in Kaiserslautern, Germany offers guests a chance to experience a night in a refurbished German prison.

The cell rooms come complete with a stainless steel toilet and sink and there is even a bar behind bars. The owners, two lawyers, tried to keep with the spirit of the place when designing the hotel and to that end they seem to have been successful. The important differences are there of course, guests can come and go as they please and they don’t have to worry about getting shanked or using the showers; oh and the continental breakfast that is served in the morning.

The prison experience costs from €59 per night for a single cell room. Comfort rooms and the suite cost more.
