A male flight attendant employed by budget Australian carrier Jet Star has been accused of stalking a 15-year-old female passenger on Facebook.

It is alleged that the flight attendant sent a friendship request within hours of the plane’s landing. He is said to have sent several messages through Facebook asking why she had not accepted his friendship request.

Simon Westaway, the spokesman for the budget airline responded:

We need to get our employee’s side of the story in regard to that. He’s a good employee, he’s been with the company for over two years.

The mother of the girl stated that she did not give the flight attendant her personal details. It is believed that they were obtained from her boarding pass.

The airline has apologized for the incident and has launched and internal investigation.
