A major anti-drug operation in Leamington, Ontario, netted at least one innocent person. Businessman Sarkis “Sam” Yousseff’s only crime was to have the same name and nickname as one of the alleged criminals who had the same name.

Police knew in advance of the operation that there were two “Sam” Yousseffs in town, why both were arrested remains unknown. The innocent Yousseff told the press that following reports of his arrest he was inundated with phone calls from family, friends and customers.

Youssef said that he had known that there was another person in the city with the same name for some time, as he had occasionally been mistakenly approached by creditors. The prominent businessman had never been arrested prior to the incident.
