An Australian man beat a pizza delivery driver and threatened to slice off the pizzeria owner’s ears over $3 of toppings that were mistakenly applied.

Perth Now reports that 28-year-old Jimmy Barling, of Geelong, became enraged when the pizza delivery driver asked him to pay $31. Barling is said to have issued the young driver a beating and demanded that the driver accept the reduced payment of $28. The driver accepted and was given a final punch in the stomach, before being warned not to tell anyone about what had happened.

When the driver reported the assault to his boss, the owner called Barling to explain that he no longer wanted his business. What happened next was described by Senior Constable Clare Murphy:

Barling became angry and abusive and threatened to cut the owner’s ears off. When the owner hung up on him, Barling went to the pizza shop and again threatened to cut the owner’s ears off. He then wiped everything off the counter, jumped up on it and threatened to kill the owner.

Barling pleaded guilty to charges of unlawful assault and making threats to kill.

$31 for a damn pizza ? I’d want to cut someone’s ears off too: $31 will buy a decent steak or a good bottle of wine.
