WLTX reports that investigators were called to the home of Charles Atkinson on Wednesday afternoon after he allegedly headbutted his wife. When his son tried to intervene in the assault, Atkinson is said to have begun hitting him, causing cuts to his neck and elbow.

After hitting his son, Atkinson then produced a pair of nunchucks, or nunchaku as they are also known, and began swinging them at his son. Then, in what police describe as an effort to cause self injury, Atkinson is said to have turned the weapon on himself.

It appears that Charles Atkinson’s ruse failed, as he was arrested and charged with two counts of criminal domestic violence.
