Recovered Stolen Antiquities Snatched From Exhibition

Some might consider it ironic that an Israeli exhibition celebrating the recovery of antiquities from thieves was itself the target of a successful burglary.

The Telegraph reports that among the many artifacts at the “Antiquities Theft in Israel” in Jerusalem exhibition was a silver ring once worn by Alexander the Great. Ancient silver coins, a bronze spear, two gold earrings, some pottery and coins from the Hellenistic period also went missing.

The artifacts, which were on display in order to show the Israeli public the measures that were being taken to recover plundered antiquities, can now be presumed to be back on the black-market.
