Silver Purity Test Costs German Luger’s Tooth

Vancouver, Canada: A German athlete broke one of his front teeth when he bit his silver medal as he posed for cameras.

David Moeller, who had just placed second in the men’s luge was asked by sports photographers to bite his medal. Unfortunately for Moeller, he bit with a little more gusto than he had intended and broke his tooth.

Gold medalist Felix Loch’s medal biting was uneventful, thanks to a weaker bite and gold being softer than silver.
