NASA Footage Shows Sun Swallowing a Comet

NASA’s SOHO spacecraft recorded an interesting sight on April 10, 2010. A comet, unnamed as it was previously unknown, approached the sun but came a little too close – causing it to be swallowed up, never to be seen again.

1. The Approach

You can see the comet approaching the sun from the bottom left of the picture.

2. The Impact

The unnamed comet prepares to strike the sun. It is significantly dimmer than in the previous picture.
