Bomb Squad Detonates Suspicious Box of Money

An anonymous act of charity was misinterpreted in Florida on Saturday, when the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office bomb squad blew up a box full of money.

The 40-pound package was found outside the Master’s Touch International Church by a member of the congregation – it bore a simple note reading, “For Pastor Nick”. When an X-ray of the box failed to reveal its contents, members of the bomb squad decided to err on the side of caution and blew it, $2,500-$2,700 worth of paper money and several rolls of silver dollars to kingdom come.

Kim Cannaday, a spokeswoman for the sheriff’s department, explained:

It didn’t look normal. That’s all we knew.

However, it isn’t all bad news for Pastor Nick and the Master’s Touch International Church, the U.S. Treasure plans on replacing the damaged currency. [UPI; Image]
