Kitesurfer dies after falling seven stories from building

A 24-year-old kitesurfer died on a wet and windy day after being blown onto hard land.

The young man, who has not been named was “overwhelmed by the force of the wind while he was kitesurfing at sea” on a beach in Saint-Jean-de-Luz on France’s southwest Atlantic coast. In the course of the accident, the victim was slammed into then blown over a nine-story building then blown higher before crashing into a smaller, seven-story building and falling to his death.

A rescue service official commented:

He crashed into a nine-story building and then went over it. Afterward he was carried even higher and then lost force in the sail and crashed down.
