Being rich is dangerous in China

You can’t make a fortune without making a few enemies. A New Culture News survey that was reported in China Daily found that 53 Chinese billionaires have died of unnatural causes since 2003. Of the 53 fabulously wealthy and extremely unlucky individuals, 15 were murdered, 17 committed suicide, seven died in “accidents” and 14 where executed.

Considering the fact that Forbes magazine reported that air were 115 Chinese citizens worth over US$1 billion, a figure like 53 amounts to an extremely significant number… and an ominous statistic for the Chinese super-rich.
