Carnival organizers in a UK town saw the potential for disaster and banned a dangerous event in which participants would throw wet sponges at each other.
Actually, the event was not dangerous – wet sponges are only one threat level up from wet towels – and the potential disaster organizers foresaw was something which seems as hilarious as it is unlikely: That a dropped sponge might pick up dirt or grit, and that this grit could get lodged in a participant’s eye. As such, the organizers replaced the event with a similar one involving water pistols, because, as we all know, water is never dirty. [Source; Image]
