No dementia patients were harmed in the making of this prank

Elder abuse is serious business.

If you’ve ever been to Ukiah, California, you’d know that good times are few and far between.  So I (somewhat) sympathize with the pair of nursing assistants who thought it clever to lube up seven demented nursing home residents for the next shift.

Not surprisingly, Monica Rose Smith and Jennifer Louise Burton were sentenced to twenty days in jail for the prank in which patients were coated with ointment to make the following shift a lot smoother.  Luckily, none of the patients were injured during or after the November 2009 ordeal, though the two named workers and three accomplices had their state nursing assistant licenses revoked following this incident.

To make matters worse for Smith and Burton, the dynamic duo also received two years’ probation for misdemeanor elder abuse.  [Source; Image]
