oh chrismas tree, why don't you keep your needles?

Taking a page from the book of Hansel and Gretel, police in the UK were able to catch three Christmas tree thieves by following the trail of fir needles right to the loot – 138 Christmas trees and 48 boxes of Christmas tree lights – worth about $11,250.

Security had alerted officers to the robbery in progress at the Notcutts Garden Center in Pembury, Kent, when they saw the men climbing over the fence at the garden center on one of the CCTV cameras. The robbers, Ashley Austin, 21,  Lee Hodgson, 35,  and his brother Grant Hodgson,  31, smashed the other two cameras and to their misfortune missed the one that caught them in the act.

Catching one man as he fled and the other two as they hid in the bushes, police had little trouble arresting the men who tried to steal Christmas ,they simply followed the trail of fir needles.  Perhaps their 12-month sentence of community service might teach them the same lesson the Grinch learned. It’s better to give than steal.
