Helicopter crash caught on live TV, pilot remarkably survives

A terrifying helicopter crash was caught on live TV in New Zealand and luckily the pilot walked away almost unscathed.

Greg Gibbler, a pilot of 20 years, was putting a Christmas tree on top of a seven story building when things went catastrophically wrong.

Raising the Telecom Christmas Tree at Auckland’s Viaduct Harbour should have been a routine operation, and was until the B2 Squirrel helicopter got caught in cables in the scaffolding. The chopper was sent into a spin, the tail snapped off and then it crashed into the ground.

Fortunately, the helicopter missed everyone on the ground and Gibbler sustained only minor injuries and was able to walk away.
