Designing a climbing robot is relatively easy, all you really need is a pulley system, some suction cups and a box. Designing a humanoid looking, climbing robot that uses its limbs to climb however, that’s impressive! And that’s what Muscle Corporation have done.
This opens a whole new area of robotics where outdoors window washers will no longer be forced to climb up 156 stories to wash the outside of your palace window, your highness. Now we have robots who can do it! I know, I know, window washers don’t actually climb on any building, they are suspended from the roof in lifeboat like structures, held by an intricate rail and pulley system that looks like an amusement park ride.
Still though, the idea of having an army of climbing robots armed with lasers, ready to attack our office building has a very Monty Pythonesque, Crimson Permanent Assurance hostile takeover sound to it. Also, kudos on the company name, if I ever start an alcohol brewery/distillery, I’ll be sure to call it The Liver Corporation. Good thing it wasn’t raining that day!
